Star VI Awards & Monumental Sculpture
A 10 foot Bennett Award custom monumental sculpture, titled Star VI, was designed as part of a memorial plaza created to honor the crew of a Sacramento Country Sheriff helicopter that crashed on the shores of Lake Natoma exactly one year earlier. This custom monumental sculpture was designed by Bennett Awards artist Tom Bennett. The memorial honors the lives of two deputies -Deputies Joseph Kiervernagel and Kevin Blount - who were killed in the accident, and a third - Deputy Eric Henrickson - who survived with major injuries. More than 400 people attended the unveiling ceremony.
In addition, memorial custom awards based on this same design were also created for family, friends and supporters.
